Technical guide
Practical source guidance on colour migration, colour accuracy, static electricity, humidity, and workspace temperature.
Colour migration can be a significant issue with vibrant or synthetic fabrics such as polyester. Heat can cause the fabric dyes to merge with the printed design colours.
The source guidance recommends using DTF black powder as a migration barrier, adjusting the white-ink base, and testing across the intended materials and colours before production.
Differences between a digital design and its final printed output can make repeatable colour difficult. High-quality film with an optimised ink-receiving layer and an appropriate RIP colour profile help improve matching.
Regular colour tests allow profiles to be checked and adjusted for the printer, film, ink, and garment combination in use.
Static can cause polymer powder to adhere outside the intended printed areas. Antistatic film and a clean, dust-controlled workspace reduce contamination and improve powder placement.
Humidity affects printhead condition, powder adhesion, and pinhole formation. The source article recommends monitoring the workspace and targeting approximately 55% relative humidity with a humidifier or dehumidifier as required.
The source recommends a consistent 16–24°C workspace, with suitable ventilation, cooling, or heating. Stable temperature supports both printer operation and predictable output quality.
